Keyboard & Mouse don't work

Hi, My keyboard & mouse suddenly stopped working. I shut down last night, everything was fine, nothing new installed & this morning when i restarted, neither the mouse nor keyboard were responding. The mouse is usb & the keyboard is ps2 (i think that's what it's called). They work fine in safe mode & I ran AVG & Spybot in safe mode, tried reinstalling the drivers, etc, but nothing's worked.

I've got WIndows XP Home v2002 Service Pack 3
Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5200 @2.50GH, 0.99 GB Ram

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sp me more information will help. Is this a Desktop? Home built? Can you use PS/2 Keyboard? have you tried other ports?

You say it works in safe move? That is very strange. Do you have a printer connected to your PC? Is it an HP?

It's a desktop custom pc. My keyboard is a ps/2 keyboard. Keyboard & mouse still don't work on other ports. My printer is a samsung but it hasn't been connected for ages. Is there any other information you need? thanks.

How are they being reported in Device Manager ? ?

Nothing was installed recently except the last time it worked properly & i shut down it installed windows security update kb2524375. I uninstalled it but it still doesn't work.

how many ps/2 ports do you have?  Have you tried different mice and keyboards?
