HD master/slave and ribbon cable
« on: June 11, 2011, 06:14:47 AM »
01. regarding  the ribbon cable; is there a preferred way to plug in, between the master hd and slave hd? (there is a connection at the end of cable and one in middle of cable)

02. I read setting jumpers to 'cable' setting, on both hd's, makes access to drives faster?

03. if both hd's jumpered to cable, do i need a special ribbon cable?

fyi; playing with an older pc which came with xp. it has some shut down and start glitches which i hope to solve. A funky tiger direct firefly, 1.3 celeron, increased memory from 128 to two 512 memory cards. trying to increase hd to 60 by adding a 40 along with original 20 hd. basically having fun, teaching myself a bit more technical aspect of pc's, also trying to update bios and all the cheesy on motherboard drivers for audio, video, ethernet, etc. let the games begin!!

Cable select does nothing to speed up access times...

Bad idea to choose a username which is your email address. You will probably now get lots of spam.
