    Sound has stopped working :(
    « on: June 11, 2011, 06:46:01 PM »
Hey, today I used auslogics to speed up my computer and it apparently cleaned up my computer, and while it is a lot faster, my sound has stopped working. When I click play on itunes, the song doesn't play, it's not just that there is no sound, the little arrow doesn't start moving on the timer either, so it seems like its not just as simple as a problem with my speakers. No sounds on the internet work either.

When i start up my computer, it says there is new hardware found (even though i haven't recently installed any new hardware) called "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC"... I click to install it but it says it can't be installed & there's errors, compatibility errors etc.

Anyway I'm useless when it comes to computers so any help would be appreciated, since i was actually planning to start mixing songs starting tomorrow but that obviously won't be possible now  :P

    Thanks!

Have you tried rolling back the changes Auslogics made to your PC?

hey, thanks for the advice, i can't see any restore points in auslogics, and when I've tried restoring my computer with system restore on 3 different dates before i used aulogics but all 3 times it said it was unable to restore :-/

Still looking for advice from people, any help would be great

      also my spec is:

      System:
      Microsoft Windows XP
      Media Center Edition
      Version 2002
      Service Pack 3

      Computer:
      Intel(R)
      Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz
2.79 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
      Physical Address Extension

Some more info that may be of use:
I go to sound and audio devices in control panel, and it doesn't let me use any of the drop down boxes and says there are no devices found, and i've tried using different speakers & no luck

dam its annoying how i cant go back and modify posts, but anyway I think the problem is to do with IDT High definition audio bus, it keeps coming up with "IDT High definition audio codec (code 10)" I've tried uninstalling and re installing it, but still the same problem persists.

First, let me just say never, ever use cleaners like this to clean the registry and software. They almost always create more problems than they fix. This is a perfect example.

Go to the manufacturer's site and download the audio driver and install it again.

If that doesn't work, try downloading this and installing it:

            Which is why I said:

Go to the manufacturer's site and download the audio driver and install it again.

            Before installing the second one.

I recommended this is both of your threads you have going.

Where can I get an audio driver?

i've already tried re installing "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" which is what i believe to be whats causing the problems, but it has errors when installing... to be more specific: "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (code 10)"

Try removing sound drivers in safemode first then click on the link CC has posted and install the correct drivers for your troubled audio.

I mean the manufacturer of the computer.

...i don't know who the manufacturer is...
If IDT audio, it must be a Dell, Gateway, HP, Intel, Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba.

If there are no markings on the case, then look at the motherboard.  It will be printed on it; might be only a model number with no make.

Definitely could use the Manufacturer's name and model of this computer you're referring to.  Also...is the sound onboard, or is it a PCI or PCIE card?  Was there any hardware changes to this computer after purchase?  Did you install your own sound card?

                I agree whole-heartedly with quaxo's comment:
