After latest Windows Update, can't log into my profile - is my hard drive fried?

takes FOREVER to login

finally logs into a temporary profile

dont know how to even go about fixing this

With the mountain of information you've supplied, neither will anyone else

PC specs ??
What Operating system??
Any changes made (new software, hardware etc)
What programs are running at Start-up ??
