Formatting usb memory stick(flash drive) in dos

This device.i.e memory stick popularly called flash drive got problem,virus, and i tried to format it in d windows it refused to and i tried it in ms dos but i didnt get the command tone .i.e somthing like e:bla bla bla so,som1 help with the directory code

 DOS does not read and writenUSB drivews.
