SATA primary hard disk drive 1 failure
    « on: January 29, 2012, 01:09:21 PM »
    Hi folks,
I was working on my pc the other day when it kind of locked up on me. No combo of key strokes could resolve it, so I was forced to do a hard reboot by pressing and holding the power button until it shut off. When I hit power to bring it back up, I saw the Dell splash screen with the options for F2 (setup) and F12(boot menu), then i recived the following messages:

SATA primary hard disk drive 1 failure
Srike the f1 key to continue,  key to run the setup utility

    (hit F1)

A disk read error occurred press CTR + alt + delete to restart

    (restarted)

Drive 0 not found: Serial ATA. SATA- 0
Srtike f1 key to continue, f2 to run setup

    (Hit F1)

BootMGR is missing Press CTRL + ALT + Delete to restart

Not sure what to do. Its a new computer, and i havn't installed any software or visited any sites sites that i havn't gone to a million times on my old crappy laptop.

    Help?

Your hard drive failed. Make use of the warranty. And start asking questions about the power supply unit and make of the drive because new hard drives aren't supposed to fail that soon.

Here's a page on the other error that might be interesting: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/bootmgr-is-missing.htm
