Norton Systemworks renewal

HI i was told that if i un install and reinstall Norton CD i could get the new updates without having to pay 30 dollars just to renew...i did this and it didnt work.....if i changed the date in setup back before the expiration date....and reinstalled, would this work?

I'm sure you could, but it's probably very hard to do, as many manufactuers would want to keep anyone from using this... I getthe feeling that whoever told you this lied.

The short answer is no. If you do a full re-install it still doesn't work.

Do you need NSW or can you use freeware products such as AVG Home Edition and various free firewalls and anti-Trojan programs?

Old Norton stuff could be restarted if you reformatted the drive and reinstalled, but I don't know if that has changfed.

You will feel better if you do the right thing though.  ;)
