    New Hard Drive Making Noise
    « on: November 17, 2012, 08:58:48 AM »
Uh-oh, my brand new WD internal harddrive is making some high pitch noises, sort of a cross between a squeal and scratch. Should I make a back-up image now and get a repalcement drive post haste? IOW, if it is making a wierd noise at just a month or so old with very little use, is it destined for a very premature crash? Thanks.

I wouldn't waste any time in getting a backup made.  You should try to keep those current anyway.
Yeah, I'd make them replace the drive too, that's what warranties are for.

You can at first back up your things with DVd or whatever you use.Or else go for the warranty.
