    White Screen
    « on: September 23, 2013, 02:31:58 PM »
Hello, I have a HP G70 laptop and when the lid is in certain positions the screen goes completely white.
I think it may be a loose wire but I don't know how to take it apart in order to check.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Thanks

    Gene

This does indeed sound like a loose cable. If you feel comfortable enough to try to reseat the cable yourself HP gives end users the service manuals for their laptops online.

This is a link to the service manual for the model you specified.

Laptop screen cables can be very fragile and caution should be exercised in the process.

      Thanks for the reply Kurt,

It's an old laptop and I wanted to fix it for a backup so I will give it a look. I have never done this before but I don't have much to loose. I took it to a repair shop and they wanted $270 with no guarantee it would be fixed.  No way I will spend that much with no guarantee.

Thanks again, if I mess it up it's no huge deal.

Yes, most of the times they don't give any guarantee for repairs. That's common.

$270 on an older laptop can be money better spent...
