I'll just add some more info  :)

Basically when I play BF4 it runs smoothly. No lag, no drops in fps. Nothing. However, my screen will suddenly go black or red. I am unable to exit out of the game, Ctrl + Alt+ Delete. Keyboard and mouse are useless. I have to hard restart my pc

When I load up my pc i get a error message in event viewer saying ''Failed to Initialize WMI Core or Provider SubSystem or Event SubSystem with error number 0x80041002. This could be due to a badly installed version of WMI, WMI repository upgrade failure, insufficient disk space or insufficient memory.''.

I read up and people who play games have this problem.

      My specs are:
      Intel I5 4770k
Amd Radeon R9 280X Sapphire overclocked edition
      8 Gb of ddr3 ram
      Windows 8.1 OEM
      650w Powersupply 80+ gold

How long have you had this computer?
Has it ever done this with any other game or program?
This is not a ready-made PC? Did you build it?
Did you  do the install of Windows 8?
How did you install the drives?
Please give  the make and model number of the motherboard.

That error message is not so rare. Here is a video.

Sorry, I can not verify that it apples to you.
My gussies there is a problem with the game and not  your installation.
      Just a guess.  :)
