Weird Network Card Error Windows 8.1 64-bit
    « on: March 11, 2015, 03:25:38 PM »
Alright, so this had always happened since i've upgraded from 32-bit win7 ultimate to 64-bit Win8.1 Pro. I'm a gamer and it gets extremely frustrating when EVERY TIME i join a server my ping goes to 1000 and I have to wait almost 2 mins for it to go away. I've run multiple scans and no threats detected. No matter what multiplayer game i play from Steam or Origin, it always has the same lag spike. I had trouble with it before so i uninstalled the card drivers and reinstalled and it fixed the random disconnecting problem, but still had the lag spike.

The card is a DWA-552. The problem was that windows 8.1 picked the driver for the chipset integrated into the card itself (the NIC (Network Interface Card) would just randomly stop running with this basic driver). So I installed the latest drivers for the card (Windows 7 Driver  :( ). And it worked flawlessly for awhile, until I figured out that every online multiplayer match I joined caused me to lag to the point where I couldn't even move in the game. Sometimes it completely stops, but that is a lot rarer than the lag issue. The issue is not fixed with the newest drivers for this card.

I'd replace the card then...make sure the new 1 has Win8 proper drivers...

Could you like me a decent card that is either full length PCI or PCIe x4? One that works with Win 8.1 and has 8.1 drivers.

I'm using a DWA-548, which is a PCI-E card, with Windows 8.1 and have had no issues since I purchased it a few months ago.

However I do not play online games.
