    Banned from Chat
    « on: December 04, 2015, 03:39:57 PM »
To start off this account is new (1 day). I used the chat as a guest a year ago to ask some stuff I forget what. Also the same moderator banned me "Quantos" a year ago and today (I don't think he knows, but as he is a moderator he most likely will see this). I remember sending a complaint I'm not sure if 14 days passed or it was removed I didn't check. I was asking some questions and he kicks me.
I rejoin say "So" not even letting me ask anything and he kicks and bans me. I have had no trouble with anyone other than "Quantos" on this chat. Can someone please explain if I have done anything wrong. I would also like to point out he ALWAYS uses harsh tones and used caps at one time when talking to me. (I don't know if "Quantos" is a he or she correct me if wrong) Just adding when kicking/banning someone aren't you supposed to give a reason in the message?

Never mind I think nothing will happen about complaining. I was looking up "Banned" on this site and everyone just yells at the person that was banned. Also, the ones proven to be banned wrongfully everyone is natural and is absent minded believing moderators can't make mistakes. In short here moderators are idols. Respond if you like.

I really don't know who was at fault - you or the moderators. Probably some combination of both (as is usually the case). Having said that, if you need assistance with your computer you are better off coming to the forum than chat. You will always be treated with respect and courtesy on the forum.

The Chat Ops on the IRC and the Moderators of the forum do have some overlap in terms of users that are both, but they are completely separate. Quantos isn't a Forum moderator, for example.

I'm not sure what posts you were looking at but you had to have looked really hard if you saw any abundance of love for CH Chat. If you saw anything, it was realism. If a chat op doesn't like you, they can ban you. If you think it was wrongful, there isn't going to be a tribunal to figure out how many times they need to apologize. It doesn't matter if the sleight against you was real or imagined, because it is IRC, regardless of how many coats of paint are slathered on top of it, you've still got the standard IRC operating procedure where whatever chat operators say is what goes.

Like Allan says, though, you won't be banned from the forum just because somebody doesn't like you. Unless you are a spammer you have to work fairly hard to deserve a ban, and at that point you'll have received so many PMs that will have had to have been ignored that it is clear there was never a good-faith attempt at participation in the first place.

As has been said before, you are still more than welcome to ask your questions on the forum.

To very quickly answer a couple of your questions since I'm here to actually answer questions rather than abuse people for asking them  :P :
      • To run 4k video with current technology you pretty much need a top end GPU, the GeForce 745 you linked is nowhere close.  You can pretty much forget about 4k unless you have some sort of insane budget.
      • The difference between 60, 120Hz.etc is how many times per second the image on the screen can change.  So a 60Hz monitor can change the image 60 times a second whereas a 120Hz one can change it 120 times a second.  In theory the higher this number the smoother the image will look.  It's important to realise though that your video card also needs to be able to run the game at a high enough framerate for your to get the benefit from this.  For example, if you have a 120Hz monitor but the game only runs at 50fps, you won't see a difference between a 60Hz and 120Hz monitor.  However if the game was to run at 110fps then you would see the difference.
      • That Dell PC you linked isn't the best for gaming - It has a very powerful CPU but this means that a less powerful GPU has been included to keep the cost down.  For gaming in that price range you would be better getting something with a slightly weaker CPU (such as an Intel Core i5) but with a better GPU.

"We're not here as your teachers, go use Google?" Really? Very nice. Not the way a support op should respond and certainly not how Nathan would want it!

Voltzzz, as a representative of CH I can only apologize that you were treated that way!!! I can assure you that won't happen on the forum.
