Exactly what is in the image you posted?  It looks a web browser.   If the image is a website, what site, and what browser?

 Yes it's a photo album that I have which I was viewing when I took the screen shot, reminiscing. Lol
What about the thin space marked in blue where the red arrow is pointing?

Why?  Well, obviously, other online photo hosting sites (photobucket.com, shutterfly.com, imageshack.como) would have a different layout. They are independent websites and have their own web design, as does Google Photos.

I haven't used Google Photos, so I don't have an answer now to your question.

The scrollbar Looks like it is part of the browser, not the web page. Looks like a Standard Win10 Scrollbar.

Unfortunately, Windows 10 doesn't expose any way to customize elements of the User Interface to this degree.

You *can* however, manipulate the setting manually by editing the Registry. Under Key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics there is a "ScrollWidth" value. the value is effectively the pixel size multiplied by -15. Will have to reboot for it to take effect.

There is probably software that does this more easily as well.

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Thanks for the help BC as always.
Editing the scroll width value in regedit affects the scroll bar width in Windows but has no effect on the scroll bar width on the web page displayed.
Examples below are:
1 = original setting of border -15 / scroll width -255 (window circled in red, web page in blue)
2 = setting of scroll width -50
3 = setting of scroll width -800

EDIT = Editing border width also has no effect on web page display.

Ah, right- I often forget that ignoring OS-defined layout and metrics options is the new trendy thing for applications to do.
It looks like for Firefox one would either need to edit the themes manually, Or use an add-on. I found NewScrollBars which appears to allow size to be customized, as well as a bunch of other (superfluous in this case, perhaps!) appearance options for  scrollbars.

"superfluous in this case, perhaps!". Yes I think you are right. I can get a better pair of glasses (which I need anyway) and maybe adjust my mouse to help me get on the scroll bar better.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply soybean. After reading your post I dug a little further and found that this narrow scroll area exist on different websites (Google Photos, Photobucket, etc.) but only when using Google browser. I can use FF browser and in FF the regedit changes that I make for 'scroll width' do affect the scroll width. It also affects IE browser. So this is looking like a Google browser issue. I usually use FF for all my browsing so I haven't had it happen enough to figure that out until now.
 Anyway, it's no big deal. Thanks for your help!

Might be worth adding a comment about optional ways to scroll web pages.  The arrow keys, page up, page down, end, and home keys can be used to scroll pages.  End scrolls the page all the way to the bottom; Home scrolls a page all the way to the top.

And, if you're using a mouse with a click wheel, the wheel can be used to autoscroll with the mouse.  See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z32AM9LYIy4

And, for tips on using the spacebar key to navigate, see http://www.computerhope.com/tips/tip20.htm

How can I make this scroll area a wider so I can aim at it a better with my mouse cursor?
Here's something else I've discovered about "aiming" at the scrollbar that might be helpful.   If you you have your browser window maximized, you can just move your mouse all the way to the right edge of the screen, even to the point where the mouse pointer disappears off the edge of the screen, and go ahead and use the mouse wheel to scroll or, if you moved the pointer over the scrollbar slider, you can press the left mouse button and drag the slider.  In other words, you don't need to actually see the mouse pointer in plain view.

And, if you want to drag the slider, once you've started dragging, you don't have to keep the mouse pointer on top of the slider.  If the mouse pointer veers off the scrollbar, the mouse pointer will continue to hold the slider.  In my browser window on my laptop, I can be dragging a slider and, even if I let the mouse pointer drift an inch or so to the left, it still controls the slider.  If I left the mouse pointer drift farther away, it loses it's grip on the slider.  Note: the actual distance the pointer can drift away from the slider and still remain in control of it probably depends on monitor resolution setting.

I see how that works. If I click/hold on the slider, my mouse cursor will still scroll as far as1 1/8" to the left of the display right edge on 15.6" laptop display at 1366 x 768 resolution. Cool, cool!
