You probably need to go into the BIOS and enable SATA. Choose a mixed mode where both the SATA and IDE will function. Should be able to get your SATA drive recognized by the BIOS as IDE 3 (if 1 and 2 are already being used).
Once the drive is recognized by the BIOS (may have to restart once after enabling SATA), you may need to format it with a bootable CD or floppy of tools made with software downloaded from the hard drive manufacturer before Windows will recognize it.
