MSN stuck, need earlier version of IE

I downloaded IE 7.1 beta to see what it was like. (It's a FireFox mock-up, not worth anyone's time) Now, when I try to load MSN, It says I need a newer version of IE. Great. How do I go back to 6?

Open your Control Panel and take a look in Add or Remove Programs.  Do you see IE 7.1, or some title for an Internet Explorer installation indicating IE 7.1, listed?  If so, remove it.

Sorry, it's not there. It IS in Add/remove Windows components, but taking it off and putting it back on reinstalls 7.1. Also, I've tried:

Uninstalling and downloading 6.0 and running that setup. It says a newer version is installed, it must quit.

Just running the 6.0 setup. Same.

Installing 5.0 and upgrading. Same.

Oh, this just keeps getting better and better! I can't run Visual Studio without 6.0!
