Opening Malicious PDF in Firefox on Mac

(1/1)

MrStupid:
I came  from a search on DuckDuckGo on a PDF-file from the website "beds.lifelinecenters.com" on my MacBook Air 2015
The PDF opened in my browser with a fake "I'm not a robot check." I click on it, because I was in a hurry. (Very stupid move.)
It opened a new website with a blank page. I almost immediately knew I did something wrong and searched for viruses on VirusTotal.com.
It had five hits (including Bitdefender) of malicious software/spyware.

Can someone analyze what this PDF-virus does exactly? Is there a way to know what damage it has done?
Maybe it only targets Windows systems or can't execute in a Firefox browser. Is there a way to know this?

I'm considering backing everything up and factory reset my system, but that takes a lot of time.
Maybe the virus can't do anything in my situation, but i'm very paranoia and I want to know for sure that everything is fine.

All advice and information would be welcome. Thanks!

SuperDave:
Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer.

1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.
5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

I'm sorry but none of my scans will work on an apple compter. The only thing I can do is move this to the Apple forum. Perhaps someone there can give you some advice. I seriously doubt that you were infected just by clicking on that "I'm not a robot".
