save paper when print from websites
« on: February 26, 2006, 09:15:00 AM »
Howdy.  I have windows XP Home and have a very basic question.  Whenever I p rint information from a website that does not have a "print version" option, I always get an uneeded last page which just wastes  paper.  Any thoughts on how to correct this?  Thanks kindly and have a good one.

Select the text you want, right-click on it and select print. On the print screen, put the bullet point next to selection. This should do the trick.

Don't forget the page setup options in IE either. Here you can set margins, headers and footers etc.
Better still, as printing from IE can be a very hit and miss affair, copy and paste what you want into a word processor where you can edit it to your needs.

Oh also, if you don't feel like selecting it, just say you want page one or two done. It will only print those pages and not the leftovers.

This is fixed in IE7 (he says, helpfully).
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

Depending on your driver you could always set your print preferences to 'Landscape' with 2 pages per sheet - the txt is a little smaller but still ok to read
