HP 1600C printer
« on: April 14, 2006, 12:33:22 PM »
I have an HP 1600C new out of the box printer and have it connected to my computer with a parallel printer cable on LPT-1.   I'm using Win XP Pro and the Windows printer driver as instructed by the HP web site.  I have only a black ink cartridge installed - no color cartridges.  Problem is when I print a test page using the buttons on the printer it prints out fine.  However when I try to print anything from the computer it isn't "seeing" the printer.  Printer is shown as the default printer in control panel and drivers indicate normal.  First question is: are the color cartridges required for this printer to operate properly?  Second question is: If not, are there any solutions to this?  Thanks

So it won't print anything at all? That's strange. Did you follow all of the instructions in the user's manual on how to install this correctly?
