     Is there any way to completely erase everything on a computer and start out new??  (like having to even install an operating system)   :P            thanks

      If you format your computer, yes. But make sure to back up any irreplaceable data.

        How do I do that? And is there anything that I would need to back up before doing so?

          Use a recovery disk to get to the recovery console. Then type "Format C:" bar the quotes and press [Enter]. It's all downhill from there.

          Be sure to back up any important documents, such as financial spreadsheets, any projects in progress - basically, anything you don't want to lose. Formatting destroys every single file on the hard drive.

            I don't have a recovery cd with the computer that I'm wanting to format... Do i have to have it to do it??

                Like my Windows 98 cd?  I have it... what do I do?

                  Oh, you have Windows 98? OK, then you just have to reboot into MS-DOS mode and type "Format C:" bar quotes and hit enter. YOu'd need the CD for Windows XP or something like that.

                    ok right now it has windows xp on it but it's taken up all of the hard drive space so I'm wanting to get windows 98 back... So what do I do?  Why will i need a windows xp cd??
