i am in need of getting a new processer but i dont know how to tell what my mother board can use can someone help me? i could buy a hole new motherboard i know but....i dont have alot of cash and im trying to find the cheapest way to upgraid my pc

Does the machine run? IF so find out the motherboard make/model (should be on the boot screen). If a Dell, etc., what is the make and model #? If this is all beyond you, look on the motherboard for identifiable markings. THe motherboard determines what processor will fit and work.

right it runs np and it would work fine but i got elder scrolls oblivian and thats why i need to upgrade :-/

i have everest what i need to know is what to look for like what numbers is it and such this is what it says for it though just so u could point out what i need

But it takes a socket 775 processor. I would send an e-mail to Biostar to make sure.  ;)

Is this a branded computer? How much RAM, hard drive and what graphics card is in there?

i have 1 gig of ram a 74 gb HD and a NVIDIA GeForce 6200  (256 MB)

Again without the specific yes from Biostar, I could not say for sure. That is a 775 processor.  What is in there now?

one last question....how hard is it to install a new processor? is it like plug and play or is there more to it?
