I just got a new computer ans was wondering what the fastest way to transfer roughly 50gb from one computer to another is...

If you have a router you could try using AIM.  I did this with a friend, he had to backup some files so I let him use my computers space.  Using AIM you can get really decent speeds (around 9000 kb/s, if you are on the same LAN).  All you need is 2 AIM accounts and the program on each computer.

With a CDBurner and a disc you could have been done by now. What equipment do you have on that machine?

Fastest way is FTP, without doubt.  You'd need an FTP server running on one of the two PCs at least.

Actually, the fastest way has got to be slaving the hard drive.  I lied about FTP.

I would have to count the time involved in actually opening the cases, installing drives, etc. I think I still win.
