« on: August 24, 2006, 03:59:32 PM »
Anyone know of a free decent game that would run alright on this computer?:

Intel Pentium Celeron @ 533Mhz
64Mb RAM
10GB HD (Used 9.2 lol)
ATI RAGE Turbo Pro Video Card with no on-board memory or 3D support
Windows 98 Second Edition
56k Dial-Up Internet; Average download speed: 5.3kbps :'(

Solitaire would run nicely on that.  ;D

And you could save your few megabytes of diskspace for something else. By the way Windows requires 15% free disk space to perform normally.  ::)

The original poster has not been back. Perhaps he filled up his last few bytes and the computer locked up.  ::)

I've gotten it down to 2.42GB free space, and I believe that is more than 15%.

Your PC isnt worth 50$. Dont u think its time to upgrade, if u intend to play games.

Why do u have 56K internet?
Seriously, that is a LOW-end PC from 8 years ago. You can get an old PC, 10 times better then the one u have now for under 200$. One with over 50Gb of HDD space.
Seriously dude, where do u live? Are u afraid to buy new PC hardware.. u can get a modem for 5$ and run 2.5M internet..

          In the mean time..

          F.E.A.R.
          Oblivion
          Prey
          Call of Duty 2

          Just kidding  ;D

Red Alert (i dont think Red Alert 2 would run, i got 89 FPS on my Pentium 3)
          Half Life
Rayman (Rayman 2 may not run)
          Raptor:Call of the shadows
          Bio-menace
          Quake
          GTA/GTA2

          There are a lot..
Try searching google for "Dos Ganes". They are free and u can run them all.

I know you don't do it on purpose, but you always seem so aggressive when trying to help people. The guy didn't ask for you to tell him how rubbish his computer is. I just wanted to point this out for you to consider... please don't take it personally.

It has nothing to do with being Canadian, Neil  ;) ::)

And I AM going to upgrade soon, thank you very much Track. And I'll have you know that my computer is worth a whole $110... :P

Mostly because of my Internet Keyboard and Laser mouse
              lol ;D ::)

I'm saving up $1000 and hoping to buy a computer by the time Vista comes out. (I read an article talking about the Radeon X1950, fastest single vid card available. It said that with Vista, there will come many graphical and technological improvements, so that means something like the X1900 will probably recieve a nice price drop[an even larger drop than 5-6 months time would usually make] along with many other things like maybe the Intel EE)

But like I said, that's not for another 5-6 months

And I'll look into those games people have posted. Thanks everyone. Gotta go find me a Win98SE version of Spider Solitaire.

With that sort of thought process, then I might as well as wait for another 10 years and save up $10,000 for like 2 amazing CPUs, Quad SLI or even octo by then, 2TB HDs, and super enhanced everything.

My budget is $1000 and I probably will only be able to get $200 more at the very very most.
