I have a Server here in the Office that we had Running backups to an External USB HDD,
It Decided to Fail, as they do , so i had to setup a new computer to take over the Role, i got it up and Working with windows 2000 Pro, Which was all that we needed to run a Nightly Back up. At this Point the Drive Worked . i had to install a LBA 48Bit Patch so windows could see the large disks.
So i know all the hardware I'm using works in the Current configuration.
But then then the powers that be , Decide that they want to revamp the network, and they want the Backup server to double as a Domain Controller.
So i install Windows 2000 Server, I Install the larger disk Support Patch, and its all good the internal 300 Gig SATA Disk is working fine, so i set up all the back-up scripts. they work dandy.
Then i plug in the USB HDD , Pops up found new Hardware, External USB HDD.
Drive is unformatted , would you like to format it now (Nope very much not)
So i look in disk manage meant and its show as the right size , but as an unknown File type
, but i know its not gone corrupt as it shows up fine on all the other PCs Ive tyred.
Can any one Help?!
