Help- Piece stuck in my headphone jack
« on: November 01, 2006, 06:07:29 PM »
So I have been using an A/V cable to connect my speaker system to my laptop (it's really an iPod cable, with A/V on one end and a 3.5mm headphone plug on the other). But somehow the headphone plug broke off, leaving the end piece of it still inside my headphone jack on my laptop.

Any ideas on how to get it out? I can't think of anything good.

Please help, thanks in advance.

pliers? worst comes to worst, what you can do is un-solder the jack and re-solder a new one on.

Dab of Araldite on the tip of the broken headphone plug; plug it in.  Worst case scenario, you end up with even more stuck in the socket.  Best case scenario, the tip glues to the stub and you can pull it out after it's set nicely.

I'd give you about a 5% chance of success with this technique.  :)
