Batch File for windows backup

Hi, having major problems with the windows back up when I set it up with a schedule task it runs, then the following week it fails to run. Friend told me to set up a batch file to do this and then create a schedule to run the batch file. There in lies the problem creating the batch file. The back up is going to a mapped drive with the folder created but it has been so long since I wrote a batch file that it makes no sense to me.. Can anyone help.
