all movies are very dark, but games work fine?
« on: January 19, 2007, 09:53:41 AM »
Just overhauled my computer a few days ago (new mobo, processor, vid card, and hard drive).

Only now all the movies I watch are verrrry dark, but I've played a few games (DoD, NS) and they look great.  So I figured this was a codec problem, and downloaded the k-lite pack, but there was no change.  So this morning I downloaded defilerpak, and again no change.  I also got the divx codec before the k-lite pack.

Anyone know what else I should try?

Have you looked around in what you already have, for a brightness control?
Xvid has one if I recall correctly.   Perhaps others do.

hmm, found some obscure menu in the video card driver where i could affect in-video brighness and stuff, and the gamma was set at -8 and the brightness was at 0, lol

stupid defaults

i changed everything to 50% and it looks great :)

thanks for the post though
