Windows Media Center
« on: January 19, 2007, 07:55:53 PM »
Sometimes when I download certain things from sites it will require selecting which OP Sys I have. Usually the only options for XP are XP Pro and XP Home.

My question is: Is XP Media Center considered XP Pro or XP Home?

But they have very little in common...

It sounds like you have 3 versions of XP on that machine.

How did this happen ? ?

From what I understand he is asking what Media Centre edition is considered to be.
So when, for example, a game's system requirements state XP Home or Pro, and MC isn't mentioned, whether MC counts as Home, Pro, or something else.
Not that he has 3 versions of XP on one machine.
That's the way I see it anyway, I could be wrong.
And by the way, that Wikipedia article states it is based on PlaystationOS.
Didn't see XP Pro mentioned at all.
So now my curiosity is piqued also.
I'll be following this thread, I think.

Calum, you're correct. I only have one OS on my machine, Win Med Center. Like you said, sometimes they only give you an option of choosing Win95/98, XP Pro, XP Home, etc. etc.

It seems that most sites don't give the option of choosing Windows Media Center, which led me to believe that it was probably considered either Pro or Home.

I believe it must be considered one of them.
I'm not sure which though.
I heard somewhere that it's based on Home.
I'm really not sure though.
I'll be following this thread, and I'll post again if I find anything of interest.
