Windows install says no Hard drive found
« on: January 30, 2007, 03:44:41 PM »
I want to format my hard drive and reinstall my copy of Windows XP since I've been having some problems with corruption and it's nearly three years old to boot.

The problem is, when I try to enter the Windows setup with the instalation CD, the setup tells me I don't have any Hard Drives installed and it can't continue.

That's what's confusing me since I'm right now using that computer and obviously accessing the hard drives.

I'm not sure what kind of system info you guys will need or even how to get it but I do know that I'm using a SeaGate SCSI hard drive model number 7200.7

Any ideas on how to help?

I don't believe it is a scsi check to make sure, because I think you may be talking about Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA. Also what kind of motherboard and processor do you have?

Computers are the future, not us. Learn everything you can about them while you still can, soon they will be learning about us... Every bit of advice that I give you is best guess, it is your choice whether or not you listen to it.

Ah, You're right it is an SATA.

I've got a Pentium 4 at 2.80 GHz with a ASUS P4S800D-X Motherboard

Very early on in the install process you will see a prompt for RAID drivers press F6 and have your SATA drivers handy...

Ah. So an SATA is a RAID drive? Cool.

Where would I get Drivers for my Harddrive? I can't remember if I had a disk that came with it.

Visit the HDD manuf. site...they should be available there.

They might even be on your MBoard driver CD if it came installed that way.
