Monitor trouble
« on: February 07, 2007, 06:45:05 AM »
I need some help!  My monitor is only 3 years old.  When my monitor gets a little warm (after being off) it will distort the screen.  The top and bottom go black but the windows screen I am in is still visible in the middle.  Sometimes it locks up but other times I can still work-on the area I can see!  My son stuck two magnets up the screen weeks ago but only for a few seconds.  Could this be it? :-?

Yes, probably.
Magnets cause problems with computer screens.
Is this a CRT or LCD screen?

Have you tried degaussing the monitor (CRT)?  Usually there is one of those buttons on the front of the monitor that you can do that.
