Windows wont boot and cannot access Repair Console
« on: February 28, 2007, 01:27:23 PM »
Windows XP SP2 on a Toshiba Tecra WITHOUT a floppy drive.
My child installed Google Earth and system became slow then non responsive.  I ran Norton Utility and Check Disk.

Upon reboot, I got the following message:
Windows could not start because the follwing file is missing or corrupt:  \WINDOWS|system32\config\SYSTEM

I tried windows setup "repair" option and I got the following error:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

***STOP:  0x00000050 (0xE1C01000, 0x00000000, 0x809013D1, 0x00000001)

Any thoughts?  Cant run chkdsk because I can't even boot into safe mode.

Thanks,
Dave  :exclamation

Well if you have a other pc that the hdd will work on wire it up the view the files. Then go to oogle the find
the missing files (drag and drop) Then put you hdd back in you pc. Reboot you pc then see if it works.

If not try to boot from disk only.

Hope it helps
