HARD DISK DRIVE FAILURE
« on: March 09, 2007, 10:26:11 AM »
I HAVE A TOSHIBA TECRAA7 WHEN I TURN IT ON I GET MESSAGE ''SMART failure predicted on hard disk.....
WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent.
Press F1 to continue.
when i press F1 i still cant continue, is my hard disk definately had it, or is there a possible repair rather than to replace.

They normally cannot be repaired. You should get a new HDD and while at the computer store also get a 2.5" to IDE connector cable. This will allow you to hook up that laptop HDD to a working desktop system and with a little luck you may be able to retrieve your data.
