Long beep on startup
« on: March 24, 2007, 05:11:02 PM »
I just finished upgrading my computer. When I tried to boot up all I got was a nonstop beep. I have tried reseating all of the power connecters and cables. I have reseated the video card, the cpu, and both sticks of ram. Thinking that I might have a power supply problem I bought a new power supply did not help.
Motherboard Asus P5N32-E
Ram Corsair PC-6400 2GB
MSI GTS8800 340MB
Intel DUO Core 2 E6600
Thermaltake Toughpower 750watt
Koolance PC2 case
Western Digital Raptor HD 37GB
Western Digital HD 200GB

Please explain "upgrade".
Is this a completely new computer or an existing computer with new components added.

If this is an Award BIOS I would suspect memory first.
Either incorrect, faulty, improperly populated or not seated.

Try one module at a time.

I am feeling real dumb right now. I made a real dumb mistake. I forgot to plug in the video card. After I plugged in the video card everything is running great. Thanks for the help.

The GrayBear ...... LOL ....... I'm glad to hear you sorted out the issue.
Here's a tip for the next time you do something like that........ If you have any parts or pieces left over ....... check .... you may have forgotten something .

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.
