« on: March 29, 2007, 10:26:37 PM »
ok, my other computer wont boot correctly

when i turn it on the hard drive doesnt turn on...although on the screen it has the regular black screen with a logo of the computer brand and it says press F2, F10 for whatever , i press both and nothing happens...

i noticed that the hard drive doenst spin, it doesnt turn on... but once i disconnect the IDE connections but i leave on the power cable of the HD and try and turn on the computer the HD turns on.....very odd

whats the probelm? iv tryed removing memory and putting it back, disconencting everything and connecting it back..nothing seems to work

iv tryed puting the HD off the computer to my other computer (this one) and it runs...then i try the HD of this computer to the not working one and it doesnt work

iv also tryed switching the IDE cables but nothing ...

help

It is probable that there isn't a fault with your hdd but with either Ram or mobo.  Can you swap ram sticks for a trial ???

One good deed is worth more than a year of good intentions.

You might have bent a pin on that HDD...

The only other thing it could be is a blown IDE channel on the MBoard.
To test this remove all other drives and hook up your HDD as master on IDE2.

nice D= it worked.....so yea ...the IDE1 is out    =/

do i leave the same IDE cable on the HDD? because the IDE1 is blue and it comes with a blue tip cable...and the IDE 2 doesnt...is there much diference on which IDE cable i leave on?

The cables are universal...or so they say.
The blue connector should go to the MBoard with the other 2 connectors for drives.
You could also purchase a PCI IDE add on card which will add to your options...

The IDE cables should be 80 conductor.

And yes the addon card is so you can add more drives.
