Recover deleted files
« on: April 19, 2007, 07:06:41 AM »
Hi

I recently deleted some picture and video files from my computer because i emptied the recycle bin without checking what was in there. I am unsure of how, if it is even possible, to recover these files. I'm running windows XP, on a pretty new machine....500 gig hard drive...1 gig of ram....you know, a decent computer. I'm not usre hows that going to affest my question, but the info said to put it in. But yeah, i tried running some undelete programs i got from the net, but either they aren't working or im not working them properly.

Any help is very much appreciated in this matter.

Don't write to the HDD anymore and google, download and install PC Inspector.

Or try Recuva.
Use that PC as little as possible, ideally just to download and install these programs.
Even better, get them on a flash drive from another PC and install them from there.
The more you write to that HDD, the less the chance of getting those files back.

Have you read the forum post at  Recuva, lately ?

BTW, what do you mean by don't write to the HDD anymore ?

What writing are you speaking of ?

Basically, they mean "don't download any files, install any programs, or make any changes".  And let's try to not hijack this thread.

I'm not trying to HJ this thread !

and I was talking about the sucess rate of Recuva, . .I don't think you commented on that ?

I am trying to recover some files from a notebook that is not set up for internet connection, I can not believe what happened, there may have been a chance, (when I backed up the files onto a disc, during that Trojan episode, prior to restoring, that some how the corruption effected the disc) ?

Anyway, I am looking for some lost files in the notebook, and some deleted from the Recycle Bin ?

This isn't the first time !!!!!!!!!!

But, . . I am beginning not to trust disc.

download helix

you can either boot up a linux recovery environment or run it in windows (without installing). Either way, you won't have to write anything to your hdd
