KEYBOARD WORKS ONLY IN SAFE MODE

I have a dell desk top and my keyboard only works when I boot up in safe mode. I have tried 3 different antivirus programs and they could not find a virus. I opened msconfig and turned off everything and it still doesn't work. I can open the on screen keyboard and turn the caps ,numbers and scroll lock on/off. I also tried different keyboards. Now whats next?

what changes have you made to the computer before this happened?
