    Processor question...

    I'm looking for a computer for my mom, she wanted a new laptop and while searching for her, I found a really nice laptop on sale and everything looked great in it except for the processor. It had an AMD Sempron 3500 processor. I don't know much about this type of processor, is it the equivalent of a Celeron? If so I'll just tell her to pay an extra $50 and have them upgrade the processor to an Athlon 64 Dual Core. Thanks for the help!

      sempron AMD  /  celeron  Intel   

      There's nothing wrong with a sempron for  surfing the net and basic word processing  etc...

      A dual -core would be nice though, if your inclined to spend the extra bling...

        Check the pricing on a laptop with an AMD 3800 CPU...you may be pleasantly surprised.

          yah some of the 3800's are cheaper.  Otherwise if she is not gaming or video editing she will be fine.

              I know this is an old thread now, but just to let everyone know we got my mom a refurbished laptop from Dell with an Athlon 64 X2 processor. She loves it. Now I'm jealous. :)
