Secondary HDD won't show in My Computer
« on: June 26, 2007, 03:24:31 PM »
I have just installed a 400GB Hitachi HDD to operate as a slave drive in my machine. I believe the installation was a success as the device is showing in my device manager and it says "The device is working properly". Also in the CMOS setup, the drive is recognised and set up as 'Auto'.

However, the device is not showing up in My Computer or Windows Explorer.

Please help?!?

Many thanks  :)

Did you recieve an Hitachi CD with the new drive ? ?
This includes tools to prepare it for use...
Windows will not recognise a drive until it is formatted.
Many drives are shipped this way out of the box.

Boot with the CD in and select format and you should be good to go.
If you didn't recieve a CD the tools can be DLoaded from their site.
