Hi Soybean, my reasoning ran as follows
1. The title of the thread is "Internal Hard Disk"
2. The question starts
Hi im planning to upgrade my laptop Hard Drive from 10G
(spelling corrected)
That suggested strongly that the question is about, er, um, upgrading a laptop hard drive. (Are you with me so far? I know this is heavy duty rocket science, but try to keep up.)
Now, why do we "upgrade" a hard drive? Nine times out of ten, to get more space. So possibly this guy or gal is looking for a bigger hard drive.
(Are you still with me?)
3. The question continues
to what Giga Byte required
Ok. Now we get to the meat of the matter! The words
Giga Byte
are a
Big Clue to what is on this guy's mind. What is measured in "Giga Bytes"? Well, RAM is these days, but given that he titled the thread "Internal
Hard Disk", I think we can discount that one.
So the evidence stacks up that he or she is asking about what size of hard disk to upgrade to. I wonder if you have an alternative interpretation? If so, I have yet to see it.
4. A Pentium 3 laptop with 384 Mb RAM is probably recent enough to take a 160 GB hard drive. I may be wrong there, and I concede that details of maker, model, etc might well be required. In any case, partitioning and/or a drive overlay would most likely enable use of the full drive capacity. I agree that these options may not be suitable for a non-technical user.
