Computer not starting,or starting up weird.
« on: July 03, 2007, 01:07:00 PM »
Well,I got a new computer(yay),so I was trying to see what CPU the old one had, opened up and took the CPU out,put it back in.And then it wont start now. However the greenlight still comes on upon pressing the button. When I took one of the DIMM memory chips out it worked, however a starting screen never appeared, also making the one chip that remained very, very HOT!When I put the second DIMM chip back in then it doesnt start.Any clues guys? Please help.

Is the heatsink seated properly? ?
Did you remember to connect the CPU fan ? ?

The details provided are a bit vague on what exactly you did...

Ok,the heatsink, was in the wrong position, not to mention it wasn't clamped down to the motherboard like it was supposed to be,not to mention I left the DIMM chips werent all the way inserted.

Thanks for reply,as always ur a big help.
