two operating systems
« on: November 08, 2004, 08:52:06 PM »
I recently upgraded my o/s from win/98 to xp and in the
process managed to end up with both operating systems on my machine. I have tried to remove the win/98 program but have failed. can anyone help me?
I don,t have a win/98 cd. I,m running out of disc space
because of this.

    woody893....are the 2 o/s on the same partition ?
Is the XP a upgrade or do you have the full app?

as far as i know they are both on same partition, and
the xp is not an upgrade. it is the full installation. I,m not real computer literate, but i remember when i installed the xp, the computer had to compress some
files and i remember it saying something about converting them to fat32.

I just looked at the xp box and it was an upgrade
      for users of win/98.

when i try to do this the system says that i dont have
enough memory to complete th task. hard drive has
a partition and i cant remove it. If i could remove the
partition, couldn,t i have everything on one drive and then be able to make use of all of the space on my hard drive ,right?

You can both upgrade and install Windows XP if you use the upgrade CD.

You most likely did not upgrade Windows 98, but installed Windows XP instead.
