can't boot win xp after using freedos

Ibooted freedos from a disk and used kernel.sys or sys(don't remember) and now
when i boot up it says freedos root_
Please help.

    If you have access to the recovery console (either via boot menu or from the XP installation cd) you can run fixboot or fixmbr.

     :)No, I don't have that but i do have ubcd(ultimate boot).
    I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. So I don't want to take unnecessary actions. Of course recovery console shouldn't make it any worse, it's for windows after all, but I don't have it.
