The run command to bring up windoows?
    « on: August 07, 2007, 04:27:40 AM »
Hi, i am going to restore my PC  back to factory settings, in order to get rid of a few problems, however last time i did this when the PC  went to load up (once it had finished) it stopped loading at the point where my backgornd had appeared and nothing else. So only a picture of the defualt xp background was up with no icons or windows toolbar.

At this point last time i phoned a pc help phone number (very expensive) and they told me the run command to insert to bring up the winsdows toolbar and once inserted the PC  loaded up as normal and their were no more problems ever.

so what im asking is for the run command to do this, i can rememeber it involves the words windows and system 32 i think.
    Thankyou for the help.

well if you only have you wallpaper.
      You have to press ctrl+alt+del
Then go to file (right top) -> new task.
there you have to type explorer(.exe).
      Hopes this helps you out.

Then the only shortcuts that will be on the desktop are the ones created when the machine was a day old...

Any programs and data stored after that are gone.

That's the one that controls the toolbar, desktop icons, explorer,...
Just give it a try it would surprise me if it wouldn't work.

BTW: I'm assuming that you have win XP.

                What?
If you use the explorer command at the moment (when the toolbar is there) you get a windows with you're systeminfo?
What happens when you type systeminfo?

If you really want to test it:
                    1 ) Press ctrl+alt+del
2 ) go to processes and hit E repeatly until you see explorer.exe
                    3 ) click end process
                    4 ) Click yes
5 ) Close everything including task manager.
That is what you have at the other computer wright?
                    5 ) Press ctrl+alt+del (again)
                    6 ) Click file
7 ) Click New task (Run...)
                    8 ) Type explorer(.exe)
                    9 ) Hit enter.

                    Is this what you want?
