my computer take hours to boot!!!
« on: August 24, 2007, 03:37:52 PM »
Hi, I recently upgraded my Hp Pavilion from windows ME to windows xp after I had restored it to factory settings in order to fix previous problems. I have done this routine before, but this time after I had reinstalled windows xp the computer has been having booting issues. It now takes somewhere between a hour to two hours to load xp. Although once it has loaded it works fine. Any help would be appreciated. I am at my wits end.
Thanks

Ok, here I go. My machine is a five year old hp pavilion that originally had windows ME as an operating system. When I got it i upgraded it to xp and it worked fine for many years until it started to get slow then i used a hp recovery disk to reset it to factory settings and upgraded it again to xp and it worked fine. Well then another couple of years go by and i do the same thing again. Only this time after i got windows xp installed and restarted the computer wont boot properly. It gets as far as the hp screen then it just goes black. Sometimes it boots but only after a couple of hours and sometimes not at all. Although once it has booted it works fine. Hope  that helps.               Thanks
