GRUB Error 17 HELP!!!

Ok so i Duel boot Windows XP and Unix Ubuntu.  After i deleted the partion that had Ubuntu on it cause i didn't want it anymore and i sign on, it comes up with GRUB Stage 1.5    GRUB Error 17, I NEED HELP BADLY i'm running off of my Ubuntu Live disc and can't even get into my C drive through it so if some one could help me with this is would be much appretiated.  :]
