The error message is showing as below

        0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller. You may encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

Your sound device is in use by another program. Quit other programs that may be using your sound device, and then try to play the file again.
Your sound device is not functioning properly. To troubleshoot the problem, see the Sound Troubleshooter in Windows Help or refer to your sound device's documentation.
You do not have a sound device installed on your computer. Install a sound device, and then try to play the file again.
        Error ID = 0xC00D11BA, Condition ID = 0x00000000

You can also try uninstalling the drivers for your sound card and then try re-installing them.

It would be better, though if we knew who the manufacturer and model number of your sound card is.

If i uninstall and reinstall the VIA AC'97 Audio Controller, the message is coming as:

"The software for this device is now installed, but may not work correctly.

            This device cannot start(Code 10)"

            What could be the problem?

            Okay...let's start this process over...

Please give us the following information:

            1)  Computer manufacturer and model...
            2)  Original operating system installed on this machine...
            3)  Is this a notebook or a desktop?
            4)  Have you made any hardware changes to this computer since its purchase?

If you download, install and run Everest...it will give you information as to the specific hardware installed on your computer...but that won't be necessary if you can provide us with the information requested above.

If this computer is a custom build...is it using on-board sound or is there a separate sound card installed?

            I'll wait for your response...

            Fed

              As above...

Download, unzip, install and run Everest Home Edition
              Everest

Select Computer>Summary from the left hand screen.
Right click in the right hand screen & select Copy All
              Paste the details in here.
