Just formated my pc and only somethings seem to work

Hey guys i would really like ur help with this, i just formated my computer with Windows Xp professional, first when i was formating after u delete the partition to star it new again well it gives u two options on how to format it give u the <Quick> option and the normal option. When i use the normal option well it doesnt pass 5 % and it could be there for 3 hours and it doesnt get pass that    so i had to format it with the <Quick> option.  After it formats and the computer starts, and i start to install drivers it doesnt recognize the onboard sound device it doesnt do the windows updates it downloads them but when is installing it does the same stays there for like 5 hours and doesnt move i cannot install chip updates practically wat im trying to say is that it doesnt install nothing just a few things, any  help will be apreciated thanx  ,    i have a Sony laptop

Hey i can install the XP but only formating it under <Quick> not the normal more longer mode, and after it is formated and XP intalled under the <Quick> mode well nothing seems to want to intall nothing and by nothing i mean Drivers windows updates etc..... only the video drivers and wireless drivers install it doesnt recognize the onboard sound card and when i put the drivers to it from the company nothing works it doesnt even read it in device manager

yea i had read it but i just posted that back cause u also had posted that i coulnt install XP when i could so i just wanted to make sure, so wat do u recomend me ?

You can test the HDD with software from the manufacturer's website.

I'm not so sure Contrex, it's all a bit vague if you ask me, he should be able to just install XP first and worry about drivers and updates later.
East to clarify though....
