Bootup Problem/Backwards Compatible?

Hello,

I currently have a Pentium 2.40R chip in my ECS P4VXASD2+ motherboard with 1 gig of SDRAM, all powered by a 500 watt Antec psu. I have just purchased a Intel Pentium 3.20E processor, but upon installing it, the system does not boot. The monitor does not even get a signal.

The motherboard has a 533fsb, and the chip has a 800fsb, but it should be backwards compatible correct? Also both are the correct socket 478 for the motherboard. I cannot think of any other problems unless the chip was doa.

Any suggestions on what the problem may be and how I can rectify it?

1st before you changing your processor, check the manual so you can know what are the highest processor you can go.
I think, you're motherboard didn't support that new 3.2Ghz.
