Computer wont boot
« on: October 27, 2007, 07:44:31 AM »
I have come here because i was looking for help with my computer.  I'm pretty sure this is the right section because I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem (possibly the motherboard).

when i go to try to boot my computer it gives me the normal beep that it always does when it boots but then a second or two later it starts beeping a again but this time its one big beep and it lasts as long as you keep the computer on.

What happened before this started?
Do you see anything displayed on the screen?

i don't know what happened before this started because it was working fine last night and when i woke up it was off. when i turned it on i found this problem.

as for if there is anything on the screen yes there is, its the screen that shows up everytime you boot for a second or that gives you the boot options like if you want to press F1 or what not.

First, turn off your computer, ground yourself, and reseat your video card (if you have separate one), and do same thing with your RAM modules. If you have more then 1 RAM sticks, try to start your computer with one stick at a time.

Not sure I should add my problem to the mix, but here goes.

When I turn on the power the fans (3 of them) begin to spin seconds after turning on and spin for about 4-5 seconds and then stop. I switched power supply. No help. I reapplied heatsink goop---no help. Can someone please advise what I might do next.

Thank you for ANY help.

I can see, you have 2 RAM slots.
Remove 1 RAM stick, start your computer. If this doesn't work, replace 1st stick with second one, and start your computer.
