Hi; I've just reconnected my kyocera fs3800 laser printer with a usb to parallel cable, forgetting that it was still turned on. I know that this is a VERY BAD thing to do (to paraphrase the manual); there's no communication between my xp PC which says "printer ready" and "failed to print", and the printer which will happily print a self-test page, and says "printer ready" on its display. I've tried printing from various programmes with the same result; therefore I've either fried the cable or, more likely, something inside the printer. Do printers have anything like a fuse protecting the ports?
I expect the most economic thing is to buy another printer, which is fairly cheap,(reconditioned) but I don't like chucking things if they can be easily fixed. I might have known this was going to happen as I'd just bought two new toner kits for it, each costing more than the reconditioned printer !
thanks.
