    memory parity error message

    hello ; have win 98 se.    bootup is ok . in windows when i try to open
    a floppy drive icon ( usualy an exe type ) OR i try to open a D drive icon ( exe ) i get " memory parity error detected , system halted " .
    i changed all the ram a couple of times . i also changed the cpu and bios battery . its an old gateway P5 - 120 machine .  ( 1995 )
    its for a friend .       help     WALT

    If you have already replaced the CMOS battery then those errors more than likely mean you have installed either mismatched RAM or RAM the system won't run on.
